How far in advance should I book my session?

Usually you can book your session about 4-8 weeks in advance. When you are ready to book your session I will let you know what days I currently have available. Please remember that I cannot hold those days open for you until I have a confirmed date, time and location. Sessions will be booked and a first come, first served basis. So let me know which day you would like as soon as possible. No deposit is required to hold your session day/time.

I really want to head to the Botanical Gardens! Who covers the entrance fee?

Because I try my best to keep my cost to you down I do not cover entrance fees and other location related costs. Clients are responsible for the costs associated with the location of their choice.

I'm expecting my baby soon. When is a good time to schedule a newborn session?

Newborn portraits are especially precious and unpredicatable to schedule far in advance. That being said, they should be taken within the first week to week and a half after the baby is born - as amazing as it seems by 2 weeks they are already losing most of that squishy, oh-so-adorable newborn look (they grow so fast!! sigh...). Send me an email before your due date so that we can have some advanced notice and once your little one has arrived give me a shout to plan the actual session. If time permits I could even meet you before you've left the hospital for your newborn session. The actual session itself can run anywhere from the usual 30-45minutes session time to a couple of hours. There's no predicting newborns - sometimes they're just tired, cranky, hungry. I do not want anyone to feel rushed - we take plenty of breaks to keep your little one as comfortable as possible!

What should I wear/bring to my session?

Solid colors tend to photograph the best.  Keep it simple.  The focus of the pictures should be your child and family, so loud prints will only take away from that image.  Clean classic cuts photograph very well - hence becoming classics.  If you're doing a family session try to stick to one theme - same color, style, etc.  For child and infant sessions a change of clothes is always welcome.  Be sure to bring a special "lovey" for your little one as they can make for such sweet photographs not to mention be yet another way to make you child more comfortable.

What happens after my session?

Within a couple of days of your session I will post a sneak peek of your session on my blog (please let me know if you would prefer not to have your sneak peek posted) so that you can get a look at some of your shots as soon as possible! I know how hard it is to wait to see your pictures! If you've agreed to the model release your Sneak Peek pictures will show up on my blog within just 1-2 days. 2-3 days later you will receive an email with a link to your private online gallery.  There will be 30-50 images available for you to pick from in both color and black/white.  All the images will be fully edited and ready for order in your online gallery.  If you have chosen to also purchase the CD it will be mailed out to you within 1-2 weeks after your session.

What if a child is sick or the weather is bad?

If we had scheduled an outdoor session and the weather turns bad or your child is just under the weather themselves, please don't hesitate to call me to re-schedule your session, preferably the night before but as late at 2 hours prior to your session.  We're trying to capture your memories, so we want the atmosphere to be just right!
