meet the Photographer

Let’s see, where do I begin? I guess first is that I’m a mom to 4 beautiful young children and as such I, like so many other mommies out there, go by many titles: artist, teacher, photographer, engineer, personal chef, impromptu nurse, etc. The title that I love the most by a far stretch is simply “Mommy”. There’s nothing better than hearing your children call out the name “Mommy”… yes, even in the middle of the night as so often is the case in our home.  I love the laughter and the tears that each day brings. Unfortunately it feels as though each moment is gone so quickly. The newborn becomes a giggling baby, then toddler, preschooler and so on. Before I knew it, my little baby girl wasn’t quite so little anymore – this year she announced that she wanted a laptop for her birthday! Where does the time go?

It was when my first child was still a baby that I realized how fleeting those moments really are. And so I took it upon myself to take the photography skills that I’d already so casually learned in college and step them up to more serious photography so that I could keep those memories to share with my children, and eventually to their children. I soon found other parents that felt the same way as I did and who wanted to capture the same precious memories that I was. And so, with the loving encouragement of my husband who created for me my very own darkroom as our wedding present, I created Katie Beach Photography and made it my goal to catch not what children look like on a given day, but their personalities – the giggles, tears, and outright laughter that really make a family.
